STRENGTHS: From the past year of work I can identify that I had quite a few strengths. I was good at going into a detailed analysis and I could then follow it up with sufficient research and planning that supported my analysis. I did extensive research on forms of promotion and ways to decorate which showed a more creative side. I kept up my spelling and grammar and the website was easy to navigate. I showed a consistent evidence of practical and theoretical understanding throughout the project.
WEAKNESSES: Last year also displayed some things that could be improved on. For my event Ellie and I relied a lot on the word of mouth throughout our social circles. This isn't a reliable form of promotion and I could have tried a little harder with the different forms of promotion (e.g. promotional videos, an event website/social medias to keep followers in the loop). So for my next project I need to work more on my networking and promotion.
OPPORTUNITIES: An opportunity that I didn't have last year was the fact that I am now 18 so the venues that I can book will be broadened massively. That was a downfall of my previous project as The Latest Music Bar treated Ellie and I in a negative way purely because of the fact that it was an under 18s event.
THREATS: The threats of this project is COVID-19! This has come in the way of many events due to the government laws and guidelines so nothing can go ahead. Another threat is the fact that I am an unknown promoter, I have no company which may make venues and bigger artists reluctant to work with me and rely on me. During the busier seasons it may be more difficult to make bookings due to unavailability.
Personal Development Plan
This year I plan on improving on my weaknesses from the past project. This includes methods of promotion which I plan to do more research into and learn more about (Adobe Premiere for video editing, Photoshop for photo editing/making posters, getting more experience on Canva for logos and posters). I also want to improve my networking so I want to get to know more about where I could go from college and who I need to talk to do so. I want to research more into local events companies and national/international companies too.
Culture Channel Contributions
For the culture channel project I plan to do a music related page. I want to include new music reviews and report on events. Of course events have taken a complete turn as there are many new guidelines and rules in place which mean people cannot congregate so I wanted to talk about current events and precautions taken. I also wanted to talk about music that students have released and help promote them, I wanted to insert them into the culture channel website on a player so they can be heard from the website. I'm going to have to work with people who are doing similar things to me so that the page is more of a collaboration than a website with loads of different pages (Indy, Faith, Daisie, Jena).
