Planning and Production

These are the first emails exchanged with Alicia and I, we arranged a meeting so we could discuss promotion.
This is our planning for the meeting, I had to reschedule due to being busy but we sorted it in the end. I then did some planning of my own and researched into promotion so I knew what I was talking about and was prepared:

Today I had my meeting with Alicia, we arranged to take some promotional photos with Indy. I booked a studio at the college for the 29th of April in the morning. This gives Alicia enough time to use these to promote her newest EP which is released on the 28th of May. We also discussed booking a stage for METFEST to give a teaser of some of her upcoming songs. I still need to book that and plan on doing so when Phil (my teacher) has had a meeting with Ross (from theatre) and arranges how we book the outside stage.

This day I commissioned a logo from a local artist that I can use as the logo for the record label (mellow moon music). She put a photograph on her Snapchat story of a moon character she drew so I messaged her asking if she would be up for doing a moon for me. I set her a deadline for the 28th of April so will update this space when it's completed. This isn't what I commissioned but what made me interested in her illustrating it for me:

Today we began the filming for Henry's music video but discovered that the green screen didn't touch the floor which is a problem as Henry's whole body was supposed to be in the shot. Planning for next Thursday (15.04.21) we ordered another green screen so we can attach them to create a longer screen.

We continued filming today, we had a lot of setting up to do so that was all part of the planning:
We had to take all the plants from Henry's studio in Henry and Jayden's car. We then set up the black screen and put the green screen on the floor as the black screen didn't go all the way along the floor. This meant that we will be projecting a checkered floor on the green screen (instead of a whole backdrop). We have studio lights on and the gun light is from my house which we had to transport from Worthing to Selsey (where we are filming). We arranged the set on the day and sorted it out until we had set up what worked best on the camera. However we only got to do a few takes as Jayden didn't charge his camera battery and had nothing to charge it with him, he lives in Pulborough so couldn't go home and grab a battery charger unfortunately. We did have plans to film the next day but Jayden got to Chichester (30mins from where we are filming and 45mins from his house) but Jayden forgot the battery as he had left it on to charge. He didn't want to go home and get it either so we have planned to continue filming in the future but haven't set a date which we need to do.

I booked my slot for both artists that asked me about slots at METFEST today. Back in March Elijah Debham emailed me asking to book a slot for his band 'LayZ JET' but I couldn't do that until there was a way to book. However that was sorted this week and I booked them a slot on Wednesday 19th of May at 12:00. They only wanted a slot for 3 or 4 songs that were 3 to 4 minutes long each so that means they would need around 20 mins at most for talking as well. That's handy for me because I can fit both musicians in the one slot.
First email from Elijah about METFEST
So I booked one slot for the both of them as the slot is for an hour. LayZ JET will have half an hour (so 12:00pm to 12:30pm) and Alicia Dutton will be on straight after (12:30pm to 13:00pm). I still need to fill out the form that will confirm the booking which I will do by next week. I spoke with Alicia about booking a slot after we met in person. We spoke about ways to promote her EP coming out on the 29th of May, and this would be good if the crowd was interested as we could have posters with information about the release, perhaps growing her audience.

Today I confirmed my booking for 2 slots for LayZ JET and Alicia Dutton in preparation for their METFEST gigs. I did this by filling out the same form twice. This was the form:

The art I commissioned for the record label logo got finished today. Daisy did 3 different options for me so I would have some options to pick from. I love all of them but number 3 is probably the one I will end up using as it is my favourite. I still need to create the logo which I hope to get done by the end of next week (09.05.21)

Today I completed my logo. I did a few different ones so I would have a few to choose from.
This is my first try. I don't love it but I like how the drawing is the centre of attention as it is so nice!!

This is the third and my favourite, I like the smoke and the blues on both the writing and the drawing.

Today Indy sent me the final pictures of Alicia Dutton's photoshoot. The results are great and there are so many pictures for me to choose from for the poster for her gig on the 19.05.21.
They look great! Indy did such a good job and I really enjoyed helping out, Heres a picture of me holding the reflector.
I plan to create a promotion video for the record label and upcoming releases by the end of this month. Will update this space when I'm done

This week I created a promotion video for the record label. This was to give a sneak peak of a song Henry is releasing on his upcoming EP.

I just wanted to add that what is on my final website is drawn from my research at the start of this project. It really helped with the final outcome. You can compare what is on my website all back to the 'Record Label' section of my research for Henry page. For example, the video I watched suggested that you have a brief explanation of where you're located, why you began the label and how you may help:
