FEET - What's Inside Is More Than Just Ham
14.09.20
With the quirkiest album title, I have chosen FEET's 'What's inside is more than just ham' as my album of this week. The album takes on so many different genres that FEEt have given themselves their own sub genre, 'crease-pop'. This is shown massively through this album with every song being humorous and each telling a different story. I saw them live at Isle of Wight Festival back in 2019 and couldn't wait to hear more and booked tickets to see them again as soon as I could. I heard the song 'what's inside is more than just ham' which is an ode to a hotdog, such a simple subject but such a great song; proudly taking the name of the album.
The album begins with 'Good Richard's Crash Landing', an unconventionally structured song about a hang gliding accident, which perfectly sets the tone of the album, opening your eyes into the stories which may follow. 'Petty Thieving' one of my personal favourites is about (clue's in the name) stealing, the upbeat heavier song tells thetory of an unlikely thief, the video is just as good bringing the story of Robin Hood to life. The album has slower songs such as 'Dog Walking' which is about a dog walk. Each song is written abut such a simple subject, nothing as heavy as a break-up or love. It's nice to hear something different than what is played on the radio each day, it shows you can make music about anything; They named their album after a hotdog for goodness sake!
If you enjoy an album that follows a similar theme throughout then maybe FEET's 'What's inside is more than just ham' isn't for you, however if you like fun storytelling and something a little different then give this a listen!
