The Plan

I had no input on the planning of the photo booth as I joined the event management course late. They group I joined had organised a photo booth for the visitors of the open evening to use.

The location that was decided was the Theatre Bar. We spoke to Ross about structuring some scaffolding to hold up the backdrop of the photo booth.

The backdrop was a large black sheet that we planned on spray painting the MET logo on in yellow spray paint to replicate the Lanyards that we have to wear around college. The plan was to cut out stencils on cardboard with a scalpel and then go to the spray painting booth and use that to do the logos.

Indy was taking the photos on the night and used her own camera and equipment.

Carrying out the plan

As a team we had to spray paint the backdrop to the photo booth. This took place in the spray painting booth with Ellie, me, Daisie and Olivia. Before we painted the sheet we created a stencil of the MET logo out of old cardboard and a scalpel. Once this was done we were ready to spray paint. We experimented with the spray painting and did some of the

logos back to front by spraying the stencil and pressing it against the sheet instead of spraying through the stencil. The effect created was pretty good. The photo booth backdrop was very striking and looked good in the photos.

Spray painting the backdrop

The process was vey easy and only took about 30 minutes. It was fun to do and looked very good when it was finished. We all agreed to bring in props to make the photos more entertaining for the visitors using the photo booth. We provided sunglasses, headbands, masks and musical instruments.

The photo booth ended up looking very effective. The only thing I would change about the process was the experimenting with different spray painting styles as it ended up making the backdrop look a bit messy but overall it was very effective.
