RationaleA reflection on your strengths, skills and achievements previously gained and evaluate your choice of pathway or specialism

From the past project, I believe I have gained some useful skills to help me in the Final Major Project (FMP). Since Project 1 I have gained experience from the event I put on. Communication skills was something that I know I lacked during the event but now that it's over I can see clearly how having these skills would've really helped me during Project 2. My organisational skills were a strength throughout project 2 as I kept on top of diaries and had things completed within the deadlines, this will help me within the FMP. I have gained knowledge on the amount of research that I should include in my FMP which I lacked at the beginning of my project. 

My pathway within the FMP is to be an event manager instead of acting as a record label. This is because I want to be doing in the future. I will specialise in music rather than something like art or theatre.= however as part of our FMP we have to work within the college as part of MET FEST. This means I will likely experience the arty and theatre side of things which is useful in building my knowledge in these things.

Project conceptAn outline of your project including details of collaborations, venue, equipment, industry context and other related considerations

For the FMP I need to be involved in a minimum of 3 projects within MET FEST and you are able to do projects outside of college as well if you want to. Prior to knowing this I booked an evening at Coast in Worthing which is a live music night. 

For our three tasks within MET FEST we have to take on 3 roles:

  1. LEAD ROLE: You are the main person; planning, organising and running an event

  2. FACILITATE AN IMPORTANT ROLE: You take a significant role in someone else’s event (E.G. photographer, main promoter or decorator)

  3. HELP: You take on a minor role to help out with someone else's event (being an usher at a play)

For taking on a lead role I had the idea of an interactive planetarium. I'd use projectors to display lights on the ceiling and walls and I'd see if some of the design students at Northbrook would make planets and props to hang up to make the studio look like space. I also had the idea of adding pressure pads that, when pressed, make a sound. If the sounds are in the same BPM then people could make their own music by running around the room. I would collaborate with the music students, music tech students and the design students to create this immersive experience. The music students would be the ones helping me create the right loops or sounds for the space, this could be done on Logic with loops or with various instruments at the college to make some weird sounds. The music tech students would be the ones helping me with the pressure pads. The design students would help me with the props and planets. If I didn't end up doing the pressure pads then I could collaborate with some of the students on the music performance course and hold a gig in the space.

These are my inspiration photos. Both of the photos I have chosen use lights inside the planets, which is exactly what I also want to do. The planets illuminate the room the way that I want to do but I would also add stars by using projectors. These would reflect onto the ceilings and walls of the studio which would light up the room and pull together the planetarium theme. In the room i would have complete control over the coloured spot lights so could create the purple/blue night sky. 

I haven't yet spoken to any other people from other courses yet to confirm these ideas and see if any one else would be interested so none of these ideas are final. 

EvaluationAn explanation of how you will document your reflection and evaluation of your project as it progresses based on your preferred mode(s) of communication.

For my Final Major Project I will document my reflection in a diary format, much how I presented my work for poject 2. Instead of using so many website pages I will be squeezing them onto one for each part of the project. This is because this prject has many different sections. At the end of every week I will evaluate my progress from the past week and will evaluate what I need to do the following week. I will write on my meetings and all about my research if I inluded any that week.
